Katherena Vermette is a Métis writer of poetry, fiction, and children’s literature, and a documentary film maker. She has also worked extensively with marginalized groups and at-risk youth as a workshop facilitator, focusing on the development of creativity and coping skills. Her first book, North End Love Songs, which is about the neighbourhood where she lives in Winnipeg, won the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry in 2013.
