Biography

Born and raised in New York City, Jerome Rothenberg studied at City College of New York, the University of Michigan, and Columbia University. He is the author of over 70 books of poetry and is also an acclaimed anthologist. His 1968 anthology Technicians of the Sacred is a classic of “ethnopoetics,” the name he gave a new approach to folk songs, oral traditions, and ritual poetry from around the world.
