Biography: 

Raised within the elite circles of Washington, D.C., American poet Elinor Wylie (1885-1928) was encouraged to write by her literary friends John Dos Passos and Edmund Wilson. Particularly inspired by the poets of the 16th and 17th centuries, Wylie wrote formally structured verse that combined fantastical and natural imagery. She published several poetry collections and novels in the seven years before her death.
