Biography:

Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, Dorothy Parker is best remembered for her biting sense of humour. A member of the Algonquin Round Table — a group of writers, actors, and sharp-tongued intellectuals that met regularly at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City during the 1920s — Parker wrote poetry that is often very funny and very dark.
