Biography

Carl Phillips is an American writer, poet, and professor. He also worked as a high school Latin teacher for eight years. His influences have included English metaphysical poets like John Donne and ancient Roman and Greek writers. He has received numerous fellowships and awards, such as the Theodore Roethke Memorial Foundation Award in Poetry and a Lambda Book Award. He was shortlisted for the 2014 Griffin Poetry Prize.
