Biography: 

The poet and dramatist Aphra Behn (1640-1689) was one of the first English women to become a professional author. Her work often expressed politically and socially challenging opinions, but though Behn pushed boundaries, she still sold well in her lifetime. She worked as a spy for England, using the code name “Astrea,” and is buried in Westminster Abbey.
