Born in Yorkshire, England, Andrew Marvell (1621-1678) was a metaphysical poet associated with John Donne and George Herbert. Educated at Cambridge, Marvell is best known for his poem “To His Coy Mistress.” A Parliamentarian — the group who fought against King Charles I and his Cavaliers — he worked with John Milton under Oliver Cromwell.
