Students discovering they have qualified for the final night of Poetry In Voice

April 2, 2014 — Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie is happy to announce that students from secondary schools across the country will compete in the 2014 Poetry In Voice National Finals. Our Online Semifinals judges — all celebrated Canadian poets — viewed 585 recitation videos before choosing the top 39 students, selecting carefully for criteria such as appropriateness of dramatization and evidence of understanding. The finalists will meet in Vancouver, BC for two days of competition leading to the National Finals on May 9 at the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre. This year, students will also have the opportunity to take a writing workshop with poet and Poetry In Voice Creative Director Damian Rogers as well as enjoy a guided tour of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Vancouver 2014

Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie is back for its fourth year, and the stakes have been raised yet again as the contest has grown to include over 360 schools from all over the country. The National Finals will be held on May 8 and 9, 2014, in Vancouver, BC. This marks the first time that the annual poetry recitation competition will hold its National Finals outside of Toronto; in future, the National Finals will be held in a different Canadian city each year.

Toronto, ON Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie is proud to announce the winners of its third annual poetry recitation competition, held last night at Toronto’s Isabel Bader Theatre. In the inaugural country-wide competition, students competed for $25,000 in prizes and school stipends.

Students from across Canada will compete in the third annual Poetry In Voice National Finals

Toronto, ON Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie has selected the top students from secondary schools across the country to compete in the third annual Poetry In Voice National Finals. Thirty-nine finalists will meet in Toronto for the chance to win the National Finals on May 14 and 15 at the Isabel Bader Theatre. This year, students will also meet Margaret Atwood in an exclusive question-and-answer session on May 15, at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Third annual Poetry In Voice competition extends across Canada

Toronto, ON – Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie is back for its third year, and this time the stakes are higher and the competition is tougher. For the first time, the annual poetry recitation competition will extend its reach from Ontario and Quebec to the rest of the country, and more than $20,000 in awards and school stipends will be awarded to winners and their school libraries.

Toronto, ON Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie is proud to announce the winners of its second annual poetry recitation competition at Toronto’s Isabel Bader Theatre last night. A judging panel awarded Alexander Gagliano from Upper Canada College the top prize at the prestigious Poetry In Voice Grand Finals, hosted by Albert Schultz, founding artistic director of Soulpepper Theatre Company.

Toronto, ON – Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie today announced a prestigious judging panel of some of Canada’s leading poets for year two of its annual poetry recitation competition. Hosted by Albert Schultz, founding artistic director of Soulpepper Theatre Company, Poetry In Voice will award more than $10,000 in prizes and school stipends to the winners and their school libraries. Founded by Scott Griffin, the competition aims to promote the art of poetry recitation in both the classroom and the community.
