The deadline to vote for your favourite poetry-reciting students is coming up.

Forty-two students in grades 9 to 12 — including students from Toronto and the GTA — were chosen from thousands of students from 1,400 schools across the country to compete in the semifinals of the annual Poetry In Voice competition. They will be going on to the national finals, held on April 22, where nearly $25,000 will be awarded to the winners and their school libraries.

To compete, students had to learn by heart two poems from the organization’s anthology and enter one of the contest’s three streams: English, French or bilingual. The public has until Thursday to watch each semifinalist’s video and vote for the People’s Choice Award in English at poetryinvoice.ca/peoples-choice and in French at lesvoixdelapoesie.ca/choix-du-public.
