We'll send a poet to your classroom this fall for free!

We’re delighted to announce that the Canada Council for the Arts has entered into a three-year partnership with Poetry In Voice / Les voix de la poésie to forge stronger ties between Canadian poets and youth.

There are lots of exciting new projects detailed in our press release, but we want to know now:

Would you like a skilled poet-educator to work with your students next year?

If so, sign up now for our “Poet in Your Class” initiative and we’ll contact you in the Fall with more details. Spaces are limited.

More Team Regionals events

The verdict is in! Our inaugural Team Regionals* were a hit, and we’ll be running more of them in 2018. If you want a Team Regional event in your area, you can let us know at the same time as you sign up for a “Poet in Your Class.”

*Remember that our Team Regionals are not a route to our National Finals. To qualify for the National Finals, your school champion must submit video recitations for the Online Semifinals.

2017 Nationals

Speaking of Nationals, have you seen our recent posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter? If you missed them, here are the results, photos and videos from our time in Vancouver. This was another year of sold-out shows and powerful recitations by our finalists.

Our next National Finals will be held April 17-20, 2018, in Toronto.

Before you close up shop for the summer, could we ask you to take a five-minute survey to help us better serve you?

Thanks so much from the Poetry In Voice / Les voix de la poésie Team!

And now, here’s a passage from Archibald Lampman’s “Heat” to get you in the mood for a sizzling summer...

I lift mine eyes sometimes to gaze:

The burning sky-line blinds my sight:

The woods far off are blue with haze:

The hills are drenched in light.

And yet to me not this or that

Is always sharp or always sweet;

In the sloped shadow of my hat

I lean at rest, and drain the heat…
