Born in Lincolnshire, Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809-1892) was the most popular English poet of the Victorian era, and he served as his country’s poet laureate from 1850 until his death 42 years later. Tennyson had a gift for short lyrics, like those in “Break, Break, Break” and “The Charge of the Light Brigade,” as well as for long narrative works, like Idylls of the King.

Né à Lincolnshire, Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809 – 1892) est le poète anglais le plus populaire de l’époque victorienne, et poète officiel à la cour de 1850 jusqu’à sa mort quarante-deux ans plus tard.
